THE STEEL COCOON

Report repeated from the April 1st bulletin, when scheduled for earlier publication as follows: ""Told by an English professor who was a pharmacist's mate aboard a destroyer during World War II, this is a novel of personal relationships and in particular of the chief pharmacist whose psychoneurotic but essentially pathetic personality leads to a disaster on the shakedown cruise of the Ajax. Often rowdy, always interesting, this is at heart a serious and sincere book unlike the now stereotyped Navy war novel. Although The Steel Cocoon has its share of excitement it also presents an authentic and excellent picture of the training that turns civilians into a team of fighting men."" Its popularity may be gauged by selection for the R.D. B. C.
