Men who change the world because of their revolutionary ideas enliven history. Such a man was Pope John XXIII. Here a leading European theologian ates the impact made by this great sovereign of the Roman Catholic Church on the Christian world in general -- and also on the entire human family. Cardi who writes the preface for this volume, sees in the Johannine Council, which was called by this far-seeing man, the great hope for unity of all men. Despite the focus on the spirit of John this work unfortunately has little of the or human interest of many other versions of what the great Pope set the world. It is certain, however, that theologians will find in these more meat than they did in Xavier Rynne's Letters From Vatican City . But it will not have as much meaning for those who enjoy name It is nevertheless good to have a book like The Johannson perspective which can only come from an acknowledged expert.
