TOMMY THATCHER GOES TO SEE

Macmillan seems to be going in for Maine stories, for here is another one, this time about a small boy who goes from New York City to live with his grandparents in Maine, and finds that he has to learn all sorts of things over again. His grandfather is wholly ship-minded, so Tommy learns fast to speak and think in terms of the sea -- and he finds that it is in his blood as well. I've not seen the illustrations as yet. The Haders do such delightful animals and costume things, and -- so far -- such disappointing modern American small boys and girls, that I have my fingers crossed.
