MOTHER TERESA: Caring for All God's Children

Beginning with little Agnes' devotion at an Easter service in Yugoslavia, Lee follows Mother Teresa to the convent in India and then into the streets of Calcutta--where she goes about helping the poor, attracting a following (at one point Lee inappropriately compares Mother Teresa's twelve helpers with Jesus' twelve apostles), establishing homes for the dying, for lepers, and for unwanted children. After this comes recognition (the cover of Time) and a shower of awards, culminating in the Nobel Peace Prize and Mother Teresa's short acceptance speech. It's all related in the bland and graceless easy-reading manner characteristic of the series, which takes on such diverse notables as Jane Fonda and Roy Kroc. As Mother Teresa is a worthier subject, this entry may be barely acceptable, simply for the coverage.
