by Betty Morrow ‧ RELEASE DATE: Aug. 6, 1958
Uniform with the See Through series, Betty Morrow takes her reader on a leisurely climb up a California mountain. Each level is examined and illustrated with pictures by Winifred Lubell. One pauses here and there to examine the vegetation, the animals and insects, and the topography. And one asks questions as the scenes change so that by the time the snowcap ed peak is reached, the young traveller has begun to grasp the complexity of the life and form of a mountain. Though rich in information, See Up The Mountain does not exploit the potential excitement of its subject, so that, in the end, one is exhausted rather than refreshed by the strenuous climb.
