CATHY'S FIRST SCHOOL

A very simple story line and large, clear photographs serve to introduce the youngest readers to what a typical day in nursery school or kindergarten can be like. It is Cathy's birthday and her classmates' secret is the party they have planned for her in the afternoon. This is the motivation behind the manifold activities that are shown -- from the clay table to the easel, everybody is working on something for Cathy with time out for the routines of washing, eating, napping, etc., that are typical of the day nursery schedule. The pictures were taken at the Early Childhood Center at Brooklyn College. The book is a straightforward presentation that should lure and assure leery candidates for these classes.
