THE TOP OF THE PIZZAS

How an ugly but talented pizza cook finds happiness as a gargoyle, as broadly cartooned by a Sesame Street/Electric Company magazine artist. So ugly he's called Ogre, the crowd-drawing cook is kept hidden in pizzeria proprietor Leonardo's kitchen, but when a Mrs. Worthington Flaunt invades the kitchen and faints at the sight of him, business fails and Ogre must go. But then a kindly super starts a sightseeing business on his ornately decorated old roof and Ogre, hired at first as a substitute for the one missing gargoyle, makes a fortune for both of them when he starts feeding the visitors. ""A must for gargoyle and pizza fanciers alike,"" rave critics, and Ogre Pizza-Ola becomes famous the world over. You have to give Basso credit for his schlocky humor, but it's extravagant indeed in a hard cover trade book.
