by Bill Peet ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 8, 1959
As pathetic as the plight of Sampson is the plight of vain Hubert, the lion, on the day he loses his elegant mane. Touched by his despair, all the animals confer and decide that with the tears of a crocodile Hubert's hair will be restored. And restored it is, but with such profusion that it all but strangles all the other jungle creatures. So Hubert is discreetly shorn and returns to his seat of supremacy, a more modest, more compassionate King.
