by Billio Burke ‧ RELEASE DATE: May 25, 1949
Vivacious autobiography, filled with fashion, theater, names, the light touch here is pleasant and personal. ""Bille"" Burke was prodded onto the stage by an enterprising mother, and trained by her father, an international clown. She found herself a London favorite in musical comedy at the age of 18; came to America under Frohman, and later married Florenz Ziegfeld. There were hurdles in that marriage, financial tangles, a full career in holding the marriage together despite marital troubles and family affairs. After his death she went back into pictures and radio.
