Babe recalls his career from early discovery in the sand lots of an Xavierian school in Baltimore, to his first seasons as a pro,- the Baltimore Oricles-then on to the Red Sox, and the fabulous era with the Yankees where he broke batting averages, home-run records, and so on. There are his-battles with commissioners, umpires, owners, fans; the slow maturity which made him as idel of schoolboys; his tour of Japan; his gradual decline. A modern Heratic Alger story- complete to comeback at the end.
