In a rollicking story-song from a Canadian musician, one creature after another--each bigger than the one before--comes to sit on a little girl's knee. When the first, a bug, refuses to leave, ""I picked up the telephone./ I called my friend the frog at home. I asked if she would like some lunch./ The frog came over and...MUNCH! MUNCH! MUNCH!"" But it's not the offending bug that's eaten, it's the child's food, while the bug leaps to safety. A snake is called to oust the frog, a rat to get rid of the snake, and so on, with the accumulating animals happily ensconced in each comically lively illustration. This entertaining variant on a familiar pattern concludes when the other animals rally together to tug at the enormous bear who has finally devoured the rest of the food. The tune is catchy and easily learned. Good fun, especially for a group.
