LITTLE ORVIE

Readers of the S. E. P. have already met little Orvie, enfant terrible. And the rest of the public knows him in real life -- in one guise or another -- the seven year old pest, the small boy who should have drowned at birth, but who, willy nilly, reveals annoyingly appealing sides. He's a lusty addition to the Tarkington gallery, and Tarkington is at his best in the episodic treatment of essential human beings of the younger generation. Little Orvie is a soul mate of small Jane, -- page Willy in Seventeen for his opinion of Jane.
