The approach is definitely for the tourist, with bits for the business man and explorer. Bertita Harding is well-informed on this area and provides a fine introduction to the country. With a brief background of history, statistics, leading Brazilian figures, feast days and celebrations, the book is devoted to a section by section coverage. Rio de Janeiro,- the outlying districts, the resorts; Sao Paulo, ""coffee land""; the southern tip; the less known areas of the north and central states -- and in each section, she discusses those things the traveller would want to know, hotels, restaurants, what to do and where to go. The author's name is passport to reader interest for her glamorous historical and biographical novels, of which Amason Throne was set in Brazil.
