DEATH OF A PAINTED LADY

A bloodshot crime of passion ends the life of a lovely vagrant, starts an inquiry which alternates between O'Halloran, a drinking journalist, O'Connor, a drinking painter who had done her portrait, Geraghty, a gallery owner and Paul Traynor who had once loved her. When the emotional ferment dies down and the fumes of alcohol clear, the case comes into court but still this Irish jig is not up. Immoderate, perhaps, but succeeds in working up interest without empathy for any concerned.
