NIGHT OF THE SHORT KNIVES

A hush-hush, hurry-hurry affair deals with espionage and counterespionage within the precinct of SHAPE. Perry Cathingwood, an interpreter, discovers that the ""night of the small knives had fallen"" after being roughed up. The second victim is Delphine, his attractive young colleague. She is kidnapped and held as a hostage by a henchman of Paul Feodor La Fleuve, whose middle name betrays his affiliation. When an attempt to assassinate the Supreme Commander fails, La Fleuve tries to escape with Delphine in tow and there is a concluding water chase. Not top flight top secret material, but pleasant enough.
