Dr. Paul Harvard, a Wimpole Street psychiatrist who also works sub rosa for the British Intelligence, is called in on the case of Caroline, beautiful and lost in the despair of a mind sickened by her experiences during the Resistance. Caroline's panic and recoil are aroused by the sight of a German woman operative, first seen on the street, later in the sadistic pictures of an artist. And so it is that Harvard, through a dealer in Paris, traces her nemesis to Milan- and correlates her with a traffic in drugs. With the woman's murder, Caroline is exorcised- and healed- and readied for another mission... Neither as neurasthenic nor as sinister as this may sound, a courteous and cultivated tone gentles this down for the mildest tastes in menace.
