Abundant autobiography of a life lived on four continents, of some 15 to 20 careers and vocations, of four marriages and many more interludes, and of a man of an amusing vitality, variety, and virility. No Frederick Creighton Wellman, he used this name for his medical and scientific career, as a doctor in Central Africa where he practised and researched and discovered a new culture medium, as an entomologist, as a professor of tropical medicine. As Kay-Scott he wrote and published novels and verse, painted and exhibited. His first wife, whose missionary mentality led to their divorce, presented him with four children. He had a fifth in an extra-marital elopement to Bresil with a Miss Duan (Evelyn Scott). His greatest love was for a French women, ""Hiss"", who died. He returned after this to America, taught art in Santa Fe, married (and divorced) phyllis Crawford, and was reunited with his children. Obviously, full of activity -- and many opinions too, and very frank about it all.
