A PRIMER OF FREUDIAN PSYCHOLOGY

This presentation of Freud's psychological theories provides for all in clear terms, systematic and comprehensive form the final views of Freud, the master psychologist. Mr. Hall is concerned with showing the framework and specifics of Freud's thoughts in the psychological field rather than in the particular segments of abnormal psychology of psychoanalysis. He gives Freud's background; his work, influenced by the findings of Darwin, Fechner, physics, toward creating a dynamic psychology. The organization of personality; the dynamics of interaction between id, ego, and superego; the nature of anxiety, instinct, consciousness and unconsciousness, cathexis and anti-cathexis -- are detailed with thoughtful, clarifying view. A valuable contribution to the field of psychology, one which layman and student can appreciate.
