A NATION GRIEVED

A compilation of editorial cartoons at the time of the Kennedy assassination, comprehensive rather than selective, with a few recurrent themes and figures: weeping Uncle Sams, black-banded ""free world""s, Mrs. Kennedy's ""profile in courage."" The cartoons from the Dallas papers are of particular interest. No single drawing of great distinction...but the collection has instant graphic appeal. A good idea, nicely packaged, tied up with a foreword by Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. Added frill: a section sampling previous presidential assassinations in editorial cartoons.
