PATRICK'S DINOSAURS

Patrick and his older brother Hank go to the zoo, where Patrick's awe at the animals is overshadowed by Hank's dinosaur lore (""A brontosaurus was heavier than TEN elephants,"" etc.) until Patrick is seeing dinosaurs. . . everywhere. Not only in the zoo, but underwater when the two go rowing (""No, dopey,"" says Hank, ""that's just the shadow from our boat""); on the crowded street, as they go home; waiting at the traffic light, and in the ""prehistoric forest"" around the apartment house. Worst of all, the ""ugly head,"" the glaring eyes and fanged teeth of a tyrannosaurus fill one window--until Patrick has Hank's reassurance that ""the dinosaurs have been gone for sixty million years."" The authentic dinosaurs of the Carricks' The Crocodiles Still Wait, on the loose like King Kong--to spectacular, scary, sometimes hilarious visual effect.
