A salad for every persuasion here--from the heavy-sauced-hearty to the crisp-green-delicate with a just-barely-intrusive dressing. The author, with some top notch cookbooks to her credit (The Weekend Chef, Ladies Home Journal Cookbook, among others) knows how to toss up some adventurous recipes while calming, luring, exciting the housewife to enthusiastic experiments within the confines of the salad bowl. How to prepare greens, sample menus involving salads, American and foreign salads, all variety of salad forms (vegetable, fruit, meat, dessert, etc.) and of course, dressing, are given loving attention. Miss Truax does not hold with prepared dressings (""more over-salted, over-peppered, over-sugared, over-spiced, over-garlicked with stale garlic, than any other product""). Even if you don't share the author's disdain, these many recipes will, however, delight.
