Eddie's one of the durable dependables for this age group and this time he is trying to make some money (for a baseball mitt -- until he wants a puppy) by holding dogs still for his friend Annie Pat so she can paint them. And she literally does paint them -- and Eddie. They have an encounter with the dogcatcher, and Eddie makes more money selling another picture to a junk dealer, and so it goes....The illustrations by the author haven't changed much either -- not enough to keep up with the way kids look (and dress) today, but they'll be so pleased to be able to read it to themselves they won't notice.
