by Catherine Aird ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
A convent must be an unconventional place for murder but the bloody thumb-print on the Gradual leads to the body of Sister Anne in the cellar while next door to this retreat, at an Agricultural Institute, a Lady is for Burning-- an effigy of a nun in Sister Anne's habit and eyeglasses. All of this takes place at St. Anselm's where this Order practises custody of the eyes (the opposite of observation). Not so Miss Aird in this debut which is graced with a noticing eye as well as a sharp tongue.
