CATHY'S LITTLE SISTER

Fourth grader Chris Leonard discovers that she can lead a life that is not just that of being eleven-year-old Cathy's ""little sister."" As she makes friends at school and accompanies her father alone on a business trip for New Jersey to Detroit, she learns about trains, hotels and airplanes and discovers that people in Detroit are nice, quite like those she knows at home. When she finds her new play-mate's three-year-old sister to be a nuisance, she becomes aware of the tag-along quality of her relationship with her own sister. This perceptive handling of a problem found in many families is an essential element in a novel of personal adventure. The book may be useful in acquainting young readers with a sense of their own individuality as well as a fictional guide to the methods and the facilities encountered in traveling.
