An urgent wire brings Meg, a steady sort, to the holiday spot where her older ster, Isabel, is vaguely, evasively anxious, while her still older stepsister, Mildred, awaiting the second coming (from jail) of Uncle Paul, the charming young man she had rried in her youth only to learn that he was a bigamist and a murderer. At first mune to Isabel's tears and Mildred's fears, Meg too succumbs to the doubts raised and spicions alarmed which even involve her own young man, the improvident, impudent Freddy. . . Skittish moments modify the sheer suspense of The Hours Before and it's again an original entertainment, with unexpected turns and fine touches.
