Their early efforts to get acquainted, their daily life with complications of cockroaches, sand fleas, heat, rain, mud, fevers, and so on. And their joy in the slow, rhythmic life and sorrow in leaving. Gay, observant, pleasant reading -- for Land Below the Wind market, with heightened interest in the fact that it provides background for today's headlines.
