BULL BY THE HORNS

Another young writer with a first novel. And again a surprisingly readable and entertaining yarn, -- romance with a tinge of fantasy, written with humor and sympathy. A professor, suffering from a nervous breakdown, falls in love with the wrong girl and sets the town by the ears when he stages a pastoral, studying wood lore with her in exchange for teaching her manners and book learning. His wood nymph's local suitor and his own quite proper fiancee fail to fall in line with his ideals, so he runs away from it all, accompanied by the ""nymph"" and -- after leading federal officers a chase from New England to California, marries the girl and returns to reality. Not for run of the mill fiction readers -- but has a chance with those liking unusual romances, rather skilfully done.
