From the headlines, a probe of the murder of a three year old child by her teenage sitter, which does not substantially reduce the sensationalism inherent in this situation but adds to it a certain enlightenment which is social as well as psychological. For Rickey, who is brought behind bars with no memory of the act he has committed, is a likable youngster and the victim of parental maladjustment and misunderstanding. And it is Dyer, a psychiatrist, and Bruce, a reporter, who attempt to crack the wall of feeling as well as memory which obscures the crime and its cause and who eventually secure the boy's release both physical and emotional.... The full shock treatment- and more than a little oversimplification- this makes a certain point but will leave no lasting trauma.
