Mark Twain's political and social awareness are everywhere evident and-as always-brilliantly and wittily articulated. Especially interesting are several beautifully executed invectives on the then existing state of copyright laws and the one time suppressed chapter (cancelled in the proofs) of Life On the Mississippi. Especially valuable for students of American literature and history.
