VENUS RISING

..... and Venus is really her name, a middle-western minx with her heart set- not on any man- but on Hollywood stardom. A bad case of sexual anesthesia, she turns up in the consultation room of Alan Sayre, a young obstetrician, who falls in love with her in spite of Jocelyn- in New York, and Esme Martin, here on the coast, who are much more responsive types. Venus' disturbance seems to be more than glandular- and Alan fails, along with his injections, to make her anything but frigid- and frightened. A chance at the same part Venus is trying to get brings Jocelyn to the coast-- Venus attempts to bargain with her- Alan in exchange for the part- and by this time Alan is ready to close his case and is free of her unpredictable and unrewarding charms... Men and women- inside and out- there's more than one kind of bedside manner here, no professional secrecy, and a general air of intimacy you may not care to share.
