THE FITFIDDLES KEEP FIT

You have to be fit to get away"", the father rabbit declared, and so he made his family do typical exercises each day-- all but Bunny, the youngest, who was protected by Mama Rabbit. Bunny learns his lesson when he is caught by a butterfly hunter, and then rescued by his agile brothers and sisters. In the green and brown illustrations, the characterless brown, black-eyed animals are identical; their faces are frozen into unconcerned smiles. This picture story does not measure up to many of the author's earlier books, among which were Bob Follows the Butterfly (1959, p.440, J-244) and I Am Andy (1961, p.497, J-171).
