Nobody is doing better Southern plantation story telling than Christine Govan. The period, in this new book, is post-War Between the States; the setting, a plantation not far from Chattanooga, where Emma and Grady and their bevy of young cousins have a great and glorious vacation, with plenty of adventure, as they and their little colored playmates make the most of the summer months. Southern dialect makes it hard reading for Northern children, though the story carries.
