Two American junior high school students, a boy and a girl, win a contest entitling them to a trip to France. Their trip is indeed an intensive one, on which they not only visit the major attractions of Paris but make visits to the other regions of that country, Normandy, Brittany, Provence, Alsace, etc. They also have the opportunity to visit with their contemporaries in schools and other typical situations. The author, a French woman, fills her book with unbiased comparisons between the French way and the American in areas of politics, economics, education, deportment, etc. Her text is warm with the enthusiasm for France, its sounds, tastes and smells. For those who have lived in France, a nostalgic reflection, for those who have not yet visited her, a bright invitation.
