Anyone brought up on the old Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia will remember using the final volume, the Cyclopedia of Names almost to the exclusion of the rest. Out of print for a generation, re-issue has been in constant request. And now the need has been met to the extent of the Cyclopedia of Names, expanded to three volumes (even the binding has a nostalgic feel), completely revised and brought up to date. How up to date we checked in various ways, political (yes, this 84th Congress), scientific (the conquest of Everest is recorded), and so on. There are over 100,000 entries,-geographical, biographical, literary, religious, scientific, military, business, etc., and the factual data is concise, pertinent, and designed not to date too fast. It has been estimated that it expands the value of a general encyclopedia, with some 80% of the material non-duplicating. We proved its efficacy by authenticating a fact about Franz Liszt and Marie Duplessis, the original of Camille, which no other reference work in this office contained. It should be of inestimable value in small libraries, where choice of reference material is necessarily limited, and in well-equipped students' private libraries, schools and colleges.
