HARLEM: Negro Metropolis

Very readable account of Negro life in New York, drifting from various sections until they congregated in Harlem. Some of their leaders are painted in detail, -- Marcus Carvey, Father Divine and others. The numbers racket, the policy racket, and how they are controlled. Strange religious sects are cited, famous night clubs are visited, and the author, well known for his fiction, leaves the reader with a sense of deepened understanding and greater interest. An objective presentation, which should have good local sales, and some interest wherever there are readers to whom the Negro problem is a vital one. Good reading.
