by Clyde Robert Bulla ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 15, 1959
Written with enthusiasm and clarity are these twenty-three synopses of popular operas. The three major operas of Mozart--The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni. The Magic Flute--the standard operas of Puccini, Wagner, favorite French operas, Cavalleria Rusticana, Der Rosenkavalier, are presented in terms of their plot and main characters. Clyde Bulla has managed to give a clear picture of the often somewhat confused action of the operas in brief summaries which maintain the glamour of the original. Interesting in themselves, these condensations should encourage the reader to investigate the rich repertoire of music to which these stories are basic.
