EAGLE FEATHER

This story of the summer's adventures of a Navajo boy today has authentic atmosphere and character study. Ten year old Eagle Feather lives with his parents and younger brother and sister in their hogan some miles away from the trading post. With his father, Eagle Feather visits the post and learns about the school there. Before he gets his wish to be a pupil, he passes a rather disturbing two months working for his grasping cousin Crook Nose, to pay back some damage done to his truck. The boy runs away in the face of Crook Nose's threat to keep him through the winter, and finds his parents who have a new job and a better life- working at the trading post.
