by Col. Gregory Pappy Boyington ‧ RELEASE DATE: Aug. 29, 1960
A first novel by Pappy Boyington (that obstreperous Baa Baa Black Sheep) tells of Tonya, a seductive tramp, ""long on looks and short on morals"", and some of her exploits as well as those of a pilot outfit ""The Flying Sharks"" to which she attached herself. As the story opens, the Sharks, a legendary group, are engaged as part of a plane and equipment program to fly for a mythical Empress of China, but with Pearl Harbor they are also used by their leader-Stud- to take him down the glory road at the expense of his men. Tonya, in and out of bed with several of these fliers, then heads on to Calcutta, tries to make off with a Maharaja's jewels, negotiates in black market money, and finally is deported, while the Sharks, no longer loyal to their leader or susceptible to Tonya, also insist on their return to the U.S....Boyington's plot sputters along side of his P- 40's but except for the probable parallel (Chennault and the Flying Tigers) the visibility is low.
