THE ASTROV LEGACY

O Chichernye, it's back to The House of Kuragin (1972) when Sophie goes to visit her sister Rilla (Amaryllis) who had married Andrei and never quite forgiven him for their baby's death. In fact there is a chill in the marriage, as well as more open exchanges between Andrei and Prince Leon Astrov with whom Sophie now falls in love. He is found hiding in a peasant blouse in St. Petersburg after a fatal duel. . . . Da for the ladies who do like this kind of opulently tsar-spangled nonsense.
