MAGIC IN MY SHOES

Hovering between fact and fantasy, this story set in eighteenth century England, of ten-year-old Josset Ormond and his friend, Sally, draws a pleasant, though occasionally confusing, picture of a child's life at that time. Though the mystery of Josset Ormond's apparently triple personality, his malnutrition in spite of the fact that he eats enough for three boys, his uneven performances as a student, are resolved in a somewhat far fetched fashion, when he turns out to be, not one child, but triplets, the charm with which Constance Savory presents her characters and the gentle pastimes which absorb them, largely compensates for this flaw.
