The President of Sarah Lawrence, after eleven years' experience of her ""laboratory college"" tells interestingly of the aims of the new type of college education. The emphasis is on the individual, on the acquisition not of knowledge per , but of a rounded background which equips for life. She shows how they try to correlate fields of study, how they avoid regimentation. Women are educated as women, for marriage, motherhood, housekeeping, social responsibility. The book seems a bit rose-colored, but even so it points the way for progressive adult education.
