STRAIGHT FURROW: The Biography of Harry S. Truman

A pleasant, friendly story of the ""typical American"", a mid westerner who rose from drugstore clerk to President of the United States. Here is the matter of fact record of a plain American, honest, conscientious, with no ambitions to reach the role Fate thrust upon him, but- having achieved it- a healthy determination to hold it on his own personality and merit. Through his Horatio Alger story, one sees the qualities that made it possible; and his sterling worth, his likable personality, come through the facts of his life. The biographer has resisted the temptation to make the story too glowing a one, and the balaance makes it more interesting reading, for the teens and up.
