THE VERY YOUNG MRS. POE

The brief marriage of Poe to his gentle, frail cousin, Sissy, has its appeal and none of the appreciable sentiment in the story is lost here. Loving and adoring Eddy, Sissy knew she alone could ease the tensions that led to his drinking but there were the fears that she would prove intellectually inadequate and there follow the tragedies of her sickness and of Eddy's deterioration. Sympathies are sharper than characters here but the telling is appealing.
