THE GARDENER'S BUG BOOK

Since the original Bug Book was published in 1946 it has become a standard reference tool despite the accumulation of new data on modern chemicals and synthetics in the past ten years. The complete revision takes into consideration this important adjunct to the gardener's pest control equipment, but follows the valuable techniques for identification of the earlier book. The method is almost infallible (I'm speaking from experience!), since she approaches it from different angles. If you already know the name of the enemy, identification for controls can be made by alphabetical reference. If you know only the plant attacked or the characteristics of the blight, the symptoms of the disease, identification can be almost surely made from that angle. The new garden chemicals are appraised; there's an overall dictionary of insecticides, miticides, fumigants; there are invaluable warnings -- to do or not do; there's sound discussion of equipment, its use and care. This new book virtually demands that it replace the original on your reference shelf.
