I LOVE MY ANTEATER WITH AN A

Based on a familiar word game, often played with a bouncing ball to increase the odds, this is a combination alphabet, animal and nonsense book. Starting with- I love my anteater with an A because he is affectionate. I have him with an A because he is argumentative. His name is Aristotle. He comes from Afghanistan. He lives on artichokes and asparagus, And he is an abstract artist. A similar scheme is followed down through Z. The sets of unusual, expressive words are illustrated with large, flat, graceful forms painted in magenta, gold, and brown. The combination of text and pictures in the author/illustrator's distinctive style is an artistic tour de force. Although the format makes this a picture book, the intent and the natural audience for both the unusual words and the game make this a book best used with the 8-11 group.
