Dr. Knickerbocker specializes in heart and lungs, but he doesn't hesitate to deal with behaviorial disorders as well. Here he takes on the psychiatric spectrum for a crash course in psychoses and neuroses with a major lecture on love and sex and minor commentaries on marriage, raising children, retirement and aging, etc. There are the Others--the odd, the happy (too happy, manic), the gloomy, muddled, remote, dangerous, rigid, addicted, bothered ones...and then there is Oneself, with the possibilities of psychosis and on coping with neurosis in oneself considered. Dr. Knickerbocker's psychiatric midwifery seems, like some of his cases, undirected; an audience may be playing hide.
