ONE HORSE FARM

A bright little book with a sentimental twist about a farm horse and her young master -- how they grew and worked together. Big Betty and Johnny were born on the same day, but when Johnny was five, Big Betty was already working -- pulling the plow, the harrow, the seeder, the spreader, the cultivator with Johnny's father. Soon, however, Johnny and Big Betty were working together -- planting in the spring, pulling the ice plow in the winter and tending the farm all the year. But Big Betty grew old and tired, and when Johnny bought a tractor Big Betty wondered what would become of her. There is a happy ending in which Johnny shows affection and gratitude to his old friend.
