GHOST POEMS

From the ubiquitous, anonymous "". . . ghoulies and ghosties,"" Wallace moves to Lilian Moore's disarming ""Teeny Tiny Ghost,"" Steven Kroll's amusing ""Singing Ghost,"" X. $. Kennedy's stylish and playful ""Whose Boo Is Whose,"" William Mayne's atmospheric ""Haunted,"" and a dozen more. De Paola slights the Mayne, does better with flapping sheets and skulls, is a little short on imagination overall. As in Wallace's Monster. . . , Witch. . . , and Giant Poems, the rhymes tend to favor the light side of spooky, with some pleasantly modulated shivers.
