The terrible game of Ott -- pursuit by a host of hostile horsemen armed with dreadful hooked swords, is the penalty imposed on any invader who tries to penetrate the ancient volcanic land of Buranulke, deep within Russian terrain. Jonathan Burr, whose ancestor disappeared years before in the general direction of Buranulke, parachutes into that country to persuade them to establish an atomic howitzer base, and takes on all comers. Believe it or not (and you won't) he discovers he's kissing kin of the girl he falls in love with, wins the game of Ott and establishes the atomic howitzer base. Warmed over Dashiell Hammett with rancid James Hilton, as reading fare --it's distinctly Ott-not.
