With a nice regard for character and story, the author reminisces about his ""golden summer"" as a ten-year-old in his upper New York hometown. It was the era of prosperous peace that backgrounded Danny's money-mad to rapscallion schemes that have in part a Penrod quality which makes enjoyable reading.
